Regulations - The HARP Act
The HARP Act also defines the minimum standards necessary to assure quality in a dental program.

Working within or bettering these standards assures that patients will receive a good diagnostic x-ray at the minimum exposure reasonably achievable.

These standards address classic imaging acquisition technology such as film and film processing, but they apply by extension to digital technology as well.

Digital technology poses challanges because of its difference, but the underlying principles of x-ray imaging QC remain the same; The image information must be diagnostic, and it must be reproducible.
