The X-ray Equipment Operator must select technique parameters that deliver x-ray photons of energy and quantity necessary for a good image. This is both an art and science because the quality of the image depends on the composition, density and thickness of patient anatomy and the needs of the image receptor.
The most common technique parameters are;
- The tube kilovoltage, or kV setting
- The tube current, or mA setting
- The exposure time, and
- The Focus to Image Receptor Distance,
