The Facility Owner and
Radiation Protection Officer:
The Owner of a facility is responsible for appointing a Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) to oversee the safe and legal use of medical x-ray equipment. The RPO must be a physician, and normally the Radiologist-In-Chief holds this post.
The RPO must provide X-ray Safety policies and procedures. X-ray Safety Policy for UHN and MSH (linked under one RPO through a Joint Department of Medical Imaging) is posted on the UHN and MSH Policy websites.
