Higher compression ratios can be obtained by the use of lossy compression algorithms. Image integrity may be lost with the use of lossy compression. Telerad uses a lossy compression algorithim called JPG or JPEG. JPG compression breaks the image into pixel blocks, which can be seen on this screen capture.
